The meeting was very well attended by members of the KSU E-Learning Group and by Dr. Randy Hinds, Dr. Bill Hill, and Dr. Ed Rugg. The meeting began at noon with everyone getting their meal and sitting at prearranged sitting assignments to facillitate discussion. The luncheon was a working luncheon with people discussing the outcomes from the March meeting and then focussing on three questions pertaining to those results:
Each group wrote their responses on flip charts and then briefly each group summarized their points with the entire group.
The group then took a break to visit with the nine posters that were presented by faculty members. There was considerable discussion around the posters and some faculty from outside of the group came to see the posters and talk with the presenters.
We next heard from five groups of oral presenters who discussed what they have been doing with E-Learning on campus. It was obvious from all the presentations that many aspects of E-Learning such as bulletin board discussions add a richness to the class that is not present in ordinary on-campus classes. There was a range of applications of E-Learning from totally online classes to on-campus classes that use E-Learning as a supplement. Certainly the goal is to use whatever tools we educators can to enhance the learning of our students.
Dr. Randy Hinds had some important remarks to make regarding campus improvements to assist in E-Learning and Dr. Ed Rugg had some general complementary remarks to make about the meeting and about all the great work being done by the faculty involved in this project. The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 PM.
